To: City Of Semmes Mayor and City Council
Twice now I have heard Mayor Hale mention how antiquated the city hall computers are. Monies for replacement of the computer equipment are in the proposed budget. Now don’t take this personal but I just don’t trust the government. Acutally, I don’t care if you do take it personally but it sounded good.
What does the mayor and city council plan to do with those computers? Can they be recommissioned for some other use? They can be used for equipment control and paperweights if need be.

Would they be replaced with what the new administration needs or determines to be suitable? Are they going to have Windows operating system or Apple OS? Apple OS, in my opinion, is much, much more secure. Apple can be aggravating to work with but Microsoft is impossible to work with.
If none of the above reasons give you pause to reconsider replacement of the computers, think about this:
There may be a new city hall built one day. Let’s keep the computers and place them in a time capsule beneath the cornerstone of the building. One day the City Of Semmes may be the home of a computer forensics company. Can you just imagine how excited they would be to examine those computers. I can just hear it now, “wow, look at this! This will allow us to look back in history to the first days of the city’s incorporation.”
And, it may be a first. Has a city ever placed computers in a time capsule?
