On Tuesday, August 30, 2016, as prescribed by Alabama state law, Mayor Judy Hale along with all Semmes City Council members, convened for canvassing and certifying election results for the Semmes Municipal Election on August 23, 2016. Semmes City Clerk, Brandi Michelsen, as required by state law, was the caretaker of all voting materials submitted to election officials and returned by election officials to Semmes City Hall. At question in the canvassing and certifying was the winner for city council place #2. Results from voting machines credited incumbent Howard Smith with 272 votes and challenger Tony Ebright with 267 votes. The purpose of the canvass is to account for every ballot cast and ensure that every valid vote cast is included in the election totals.
American Patriots Identified In Semmes Alabama
I want to express my gratitude to past and present Semmes employees that have contacted Talk Of Semmes to speak up and challenge the repression and oppression of Semmes City Hall. The heart of the Committees of Correspondence beats in Semmes – opposition for common cause has rallied. American patriot Samuel Adams organized Boston’s Sons of Liberty and conceived of the Boston Committee of Correspondence and coordinated Boston’s resistance to the Tea Act, which climaxed in the famous Tea Party. His words spoken there echo on the streets of Semmes:
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you.
